Partnership with Georgian College
Project will support local hiring
As part of its ongoing commitment to support the local Meaford and area economy we have partnered with Georgian College to launch a new, multi-stage project to identify local trades and service providers, within Grey, Bruce and Simcoe Counties, who could serve the needs of the proposed project.
Georgian’s Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship department, which supports entrepreneurs, business owners and industry partners throughout Central Ontario, will engage Georgian researchers and students to create a cloud-based application (app) that showcases the existence and availability of local services and a workforce.
During its planning and construction phase, the project will benefit Meaford and surrounding municipalities, creating more than 1,000 direct jobs, with an additional 2,800 spin-off jobs regionally and in Ontario. It will generate $2.5 million in direct and indirect spending, with a further $28 million per year during the facility’s 50-year lifespan. This includes the purchase of local goods and services, which the Georgian College-designed and built app will help identify.
The partnership also allows TC Energy to give back to the community and invest in local education by giving Georgian students an opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world, multi-year, major infrastructure project that will contribute to potential career opportunities for students and graduates.
